On Monday,Risa Sakamoto Archives the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) said it had completed the registration of hundreds of generative AI applications by the end of March, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure AI development aligns with the country’s policy and security standards. The initiative follows the roll out of the government body’s Interim Measures for the Management of Generative AI Services, which came into effect in August 2023.

The rules require companies offering generative AI products with potential public opinion or mobilization impact to undergo security assessments and register their algorithms with the authorities.
